Shakira will unveil the Olympic Stadium while the one in Lviv will be opened by Anastacia. The organizers have revealed one of the most intriguing mysteries of the future ceremony — who out of world famous celebrities will sing at the arena. As Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure Borys Kolesnikov revealed on 26 September, the star guest of the opening of the «Olympic» on 8 October will be Colombian singer Shakira!

When asked about which stars will be involved in opening the two arenas in Kyiv and Lviv, he said: «The Kyiv arena will be opened by the same star, who ‘closed’ the World Cup in Johannesburg. As for Lviv, the voice of Anastacia will suit the opening of the arena best.«

UEFA praises fast pace of Ukraine's preparations for Euro 2012
A visiting UEFA delegation carrying out inspections in Ukraine has noted the rapid pace of the country's preparations for hosting the Euro 2012 European Football Championship, and has called for this pace to be maintained.

"Ukraine now needs to keep up the pace that it has achieved. If so, the preparations will be successful," Executive Director of UEFA Events SA David Taylor said at a press conference in Kyiv, Ukraine-2012 Information Center said on Tuesday.

"We're aware that there may be difficulties. If you recall, things were rather difficult during the early stages. We've gone through a difficult period, when there were problems related to the recession in the economy caused by the global crisis. But now the situation has resumed its normal course. We need the support of the government to improve infrastructure," he said.
